The ladders symbolizepositive consequences of doing a good deed, hence moving the player up. The snakes representevil acts and the negative result, thus you go back down. The game’s popularity is based onits ability to teach players the effects of good deeds against the bad. A number of "ladders"and "snakes" are pictured on the board, each connecting two specific board squares.Players have to roll a dice to determine the number of moves to take. If a player lands on thelower part of a ladder, he or she will move up to the upper part. On the other hand, completinga move on the head of a snake will have the player moving down to the square correspondingto the snake’s tail. Players have to roll the dice and keep trying to beat each other to the lastsquare.The most widely known version of Snakes and Ladders in the United States is that of MiltonBradley’s Chutes and Ladders. Using a ten by ten grid with a playground theme, the drawingsshow moral lessons. The bottom of a ladder shows a kid doing a good deed and the top showsthe same child reaping the rewards. The head of the snake displays bad behavior and the tailillustrates the consequences.For the iOS application, the 10x10 grid is carried over albeit without the graphicalrepresentations of good and bad deeds. Plain snakes and ladders are shown instead. Theuser can just touch or tap to roll the dice. After some 3D animation, the player is then movedautomatically according to the result.
