Description:Let’s face it: studying for spelling tests has never been fun. Until now! 3rd Grade Spelling is an easy-to-understand, effective, and worthwhile app for grade 3 spellers. When the player starts the game, a clear, human voice gives him a word to spell. The word’s letters are on the screen already, but the letters are out of order. Players rearrange the letters to spell the word correctly. There is no time limit and the player can replay the audio as many times as she likes. Scoring is based on how many the player gets right in a row, or “streak.” The “best streak” and “current streak” is displayed at the bottom of the screen. This scoring method encourages healthy competition with others as well as motivates players to beat themselves. The app’s database has over 300 words that come from real classroom word lists. Intuitive enough for an 8- or 9-year-old to pick up and play independently at home or in the classroom, you can’t beat 3rd Grade Spelling’s common-sense value.
